What is the WCTU?

The Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) is the oldest voluntary, non-sectarian Christian women's organisation in continuous existence in the world. It is a charter member in the United Nations Non-Governmental Organisations. Women throughout the world have joined together:

• To foster a belief in and love for God

• To encourage and uphold Christian values in the home and community

• To recognise the true status of women and safeguard the rights of parents and children alike, being an advocate for woman's rights and human rights

• To educate and encourage communities and governments to make wise decisions in order to protect society from the social evils associated with alcohol, tobacco, drugs, gambling, prostitution etc.

• To assist those who are underprivileged or disadvantaged due to racial, economic or social discrimination.

Any woman may become a full member and men may become associate members by signing the Membership Promise and choosing to pay one of the annual membership fees outlined below.

People or organisations who wish to support WCTU in whatever appropriate way, but who do not wish to sign the Membership Promise, may become affiliate members by choosing to pay one of the annual membership fees outlined below.

Associate and affiliate members cannot vote or hold office in the organisation.

There is a 4 tier membership plan for all types of membership.

FEW (payment code) - White Membership - $10 annual membership fee.
FEB (payment code) - Bronze membership - $20 annual membership fee.
FES (payment code) - Silver membership - $50 annual membership fee.
FEG (payment code) - Gold membership - $100 annual membership fee.

These fees include a subscription to the White Ribbon Signals newsletter (4 issues a year). Fees are paid every year by April 30. You may pay through your internet banking feature of paying anyone or a third party to the following Bank of Queensland account:

If paying a white membership, then show the payment code as displayed above followed by your surname or as many letters of your surname as allowed in the description. e.g. FEW-SMITH
Then send an email or use the contact form on this website giving your name, address and the date & amount transferred by internet banking so that we can send you a receipt.

A small white ribbon bow badge identifies members and is available for $2.00 upon signing the Membership Promise. (Payment code = B) If purchasing one with your fee (gold membership) payment, your payment would be marked BFEG - SMITH. Please send us the order below as well as the email indicating payment.
